Jokowi Orders to Create Housing for former OPM

Four TPN / OPM members led by Mathias Wenda who declared themselves to return to the Republic of Indonesia's homeland would get houses and jobs from the government.

Regarding this matter, President Joko Widodo ordered the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to build houses for former OPM members.

Meanwhile, Deputy Mayor of Jayapura, Rustan Saru told the press in Skouw, said, after the four had officially returned, his party would communicate with the government in Muara Tami District in order to receive and keep these four people in order to feel the development being carried out by the government.

Rustan promised the Jayapura City government would help provide facilities and infrastructure to the four in order to get their rights as citizens of Jayapura City.

"We will prepare facilities and infrastructure such as shelter, then provide education, health and employment facilities to them," he said.

Meanwhile, Danrem 172 / PWY Col. Inf Binsar Sianipar said he would restore the civil rights of the four TRWP members and remove all accusations directed at them despite having been involved in a number of shootings.

"They will not undergo legal proceedings. We will restore their civil rights until they get an identity, because if they are not given privileges then the others will not return, so there must be an exception for them, "he explained.

Binsar admitted that currently there are still thousands of Papuan people living in Papua New Guinea (PNG) so that it is expected that with special treatment for them, they will be aware and return.

"There are still thousands in PNG, hopefully with good treatment of these 4 people will open their hearts to return to Indonesia," he hoped.
