The Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation, Polana Pramesti, claimed that the 'Air Bridge' program succeeded in cutting prices of staple goods by up to 40% in remote areas, especially in Papua. This program is part of the focus of President Jokowi's government in overcoming logistical problems.

The Air Bridge Program is intended for distribution to disadvantaged areas via pioneer flights. This year, there are 39 air bridge routes in Papua.

"Our task is to connect regions especially those which cannot be served by land or sea transportation, especially in Papua," Polana said in a press conference at the end of 2019 at the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta, Thursday (5/12/2019).

The air route is indeed the best choice for reaching areas in Papua. According to Polana, distribution has helped with the Air Bridge program to help distribution. In the end, the price of basic commodities is claimed to fall. "Our survey saw a 40% decrease in the prices of basic commodities," said Polana.

The Air Bridge Program was formed in 2017 with 12 routes, a year later there were 41 routes and this year it has 39 routes. Most Papuans live in mountainous areas. Sea and land access has not been able to reach the area.
