Papua Development Focus, Not Only Trans Papua

If we talk about Papuan infrastructure, what has been recorded in the mind is the Trans-Papua Road from Sorong, West Papua to Merauke in Papua, along the 4,330.07 kilometers that was built since the BJ Habibie era and was perfected by President Jokowi. However, not only that infrastructure is accelerated in Papua and West Papua.

The Jokowi government with its Nawacita Program is also carrying out other infrastructure development. The infrastructure includes:

- Dam for Food Security
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) also built infrastructure to support food security in West Papua by building the Wariori Dam, in Manokwari Regency in 2016.

The dam, which is equipped with a primary irrigation channel along 1 kilometer, is able to irrigate 1,400 hectares of rice fields from 3,450 hectares of potential rice fields. Another dam in Manokwari Regency that has been completed is Oransbari Dam which is able to irrigate paddy fields covering an area of ​​3,016 hectares. The existence of the dam supports the program to increase food production and also to increase the supply of raw water in the region.

In addition the Ministry of PUPR through the West Papua River Basin Regional Office has also completed the revitalization of the Klagison river in Sorong City with a total budget of Rp 19.56 billion and the construction of the Tanjung Kasuari and Supraw Coast safeguards amounting to Rp 13.22 billion.

In the housing sector, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing has also built a number of special houses intended for the National Police in Sorong Regency, the TNI in Sorong City, fishermen in Raja Ampat Mayalimbit Bay, special houses in the Batanta Selatan District of Raja Ampat, and supporting Green Sorong housing for low income communities (MBR) in Sorong Regency.

- Papua's Economic Cross-border Post
In addition to building connectivity, border areas also get a touch of development. The Ministry of PUPR has finished working on the Skouw Cross-border Post (PLBN) which will later be equipped with other supporting infrastructure such as markets so that the PLBN area can function as a new center of economic growth.

- Trans Papua is Almost Translucent
According to the record of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono this year, it is expected that 4,300 Kilometers of the Trans Papua road, initiated by Pak Harto, will be fully connected. At present, the remaining 334.79 km of unpaved roads are expected to be completed until 2019.

- PON XX facilities
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has budgeted Rp 936.8 billion for the construction of four sports arenas (venues) to support the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua Province in 2020.

Four sports arenas are being built by the Ministry of PUPR in Jayapura Regency, namely the aquatic arena and Istora Papua Bangkit in the Kampung Harapan Sports area, East Sentani District and the Cricket venue and Hockey Field (indoor and outdoor) in the Doyo Baru sports complex, Waibu District.

The government continues to accelerate the completion of the construction of sports venues in support of PON XX in Papua which takes place on October 20 - November 2 in 2020.
